Food Review: Mosquito Cafe in Galveston, Texas… Quaint, Tropical & Wonderful

The Mosquito Cafe in Galveston, Texas is one of those little gems, that once discovered, will have you plotting and planning your next visit.  Some of our friends who were visiting us on our recent trip to Galveston Island raved and raved about The Mosquito Cafe.  Saying they never miss an opportunity to go there, they treated us to a scrumptious breakfast (thanks guys!).  Since Mike and I are gluten free, and now grain free, we were wondering if the menu would fit our grain-free needs.  It did!  Mike ordered the Breakfast Bowl and I, the Crustless Quiche.  Superb and grain-free (if you skip the “toast point”)!

You’ll order at the counter and grab your own coffee or tea and the friendly waitstaff will deliver your food to your table (choose the outdoor patio, if you can).  Our friends ordered the Mosquito Benedict and the Plain Ol’ Breakfast and both looked amazing. The Mosquito Benedict, one of the Mosquito’s specialties, even came with some island-flair… sautéed shrimp.  They have a wonderful outdoor eating area, complete with the tropical trimmings of palm trees and pretty flowers.

The next time you are in Galveston, don’t miss The Mosquito Cafe.  As with any great restaurant, there may be a line out the door, but it’s worth the wait.
